Favorite Comics Work
The Wild Wild West
Darryl Banks and I worked on this four-issue miniseries of the classic 1960s “steampunk” TV show. It was very well-received by fans of the series. A review at the Mile High Comics site praises it thusly: “This mini-series perfectly captures the fun mixture of western and spy action that marked the ground-breaking 1960s TV series."
I still think the wraparound cover for the first issue is one of the best things Adam Hughes has ever done. The plot of “Night of the Iron Tyrants” was optioned for feature film development.

Doc Savage The first Doc Savage mini-series published by Millennium is widely acknowledged as the best comics adaptation of that character, which is quite the compliment when you consider the number of writers and artists who have contributed to his incarnations in comics.
The Comics Buyer's Guide Catalog of Comic Books refers to the Ellis/Banks treatment as the one "to come closest to the original, capturing all the action, humanity and humor of the original novels."
Darryl Banks’s character designs of Doc and his crew are still held as the definitive models of the characters. Of course, the beautiful covers rendered by Brian Stelfreeze and Doug Wildey didn’t hurt.
Doc Savage: Doom Dynasty, featured the first published comics work by superstar Mike Wieringo…I still remember how I had to over-rule our former Millennium partner in order give Mike the assignment. He didn’t think Mike was “good enough”, if short-sightedness of that magnitude can be imagined.

Ninja Elite
Ninja Elite is a sword-and-sorcery series set on the world of Anoria, featuring the adventures of Nightwind, a female ninja-in-training. Although I worked with a couple of talented artists on this title, I was the happiest with the work of Franc Reyes, featured here. Check out the link to his site. I intend to collect all eight issues in a TPB compilation in the near future.
